About Us
My name is Chris Rebidoux, I am married and a father of two small children. I’m also an avid scale radio controlled aircraft builder. While building one of my latest projects, I was using a common cyanoacrylate glue to construct my project. I was having a difficult time, the CA was causing my eyes to water, my nose to run, my sinuses were plugged and burning. Being frustrated with the discomfort, I decided to ask around if others had the same problem. So I went to one of my favourite web forums; RC CANADA.CA and posed the question to other members. A lot came back with, “ya, I’ve got the same problem, I use a fan in my workshop or use aliphatic glue (yellow carpenters glue)” One of the benefits of CA’s is speed, the thin usually sets off in seconds if not instantly on balsa.
Aliphatic glues usually require hours to set up. There had to be a quick, safe and relatively economical alternative. Then one member from the forum posted that he used Super ‘Phatic! I quickly learned that Super ‘Phatic was aliphatic glue with additives that allowed it to flow like thin CA, set up in 20 minutes, had NO FUMES and wouldn’t bond your fingers together instantly. But where could I find it?? The only source was in the United States or from the manufacturer in the United Kingdom. So why wasn’t there a distributor in Canada?? I e-mailed the supplier Deluxe Materials, inquiring into a Canadian Distributor. They said they didn’t have one and if I could provide a business plan they’d look into it. Well, to make a long story a little shorter, a plan was formulated and approved and we (my wife and I) are the Canadian distributors for Deluxe Materials. Our hope is to provide our customers (who like me, have troubles using CA glues) with an alternative to CA glues and several other products like : Cover All, a replacement for products like Balsarite (that has several nasty chemicals in it like Toluene and Methyl ethyl Ketone) that can’t be used in the house because of the fumes they produce. Super Crylic! an adhesive that will bond plastics to almost anything. Foam 2 Foam, a high tack glue specially formulated for today’s foam constructed airplanes. We also carry three different versions of CA for those who are diehards and want to keep using CA glues. What’s so different about Roket?? Well, each bottle of Roket is coated on the inside and outside with a unique fluorocarbon barrier that reduces surface tension and doesn’t allow the CA to stick to the bottle. So as you use Roket it doesn’t build up that crust of hardened CA on the tip that, you have to push a pin through or try and peel off with your fingers (and inadvertently gluing your fingers together in the process). The barrier also helps maintain freshness and maximize shelf life of the CA. We also have micro tip and tube kits available that are also treated with the same barrier as the bottles of Roket so the CA glues won’t stick to them either! I hope you will give our quality products a try and discover what amazing products they are! There are alternatives to what we have been using and now they are available to you in Canada.
